Some of you know, but for those of you who don't, I have always wanted to be a runner. Scott loves to run and April loves to run. I just couldn't get back into it. Perhaps it was all the running I did in high school sports! More, I think it was having a baby, a house, going to school and working full time, and trying hard to spend time with my family and friends that was limiting my exercise time. Despite all that, I decided to make a change in my body and lifestyle.
My dear friend Ryann signed us up for a 5K on June 13 th near our homes. It was awful! I trained and was ready to run, but there were a few things working against us that day:
- HOT: 100 degrees at 9 am.
- All terrain course. It had hills, stairs, gravel, rocks, grass, streets, woods...you name it.
- I am slow
Ryann stayed with me the whole time and helped me reach my goal. All I wanted to do was run the entire time. I did. Once we crossed the finish line, I became addicted. I am even looking at my hotel in Atlanta to see what the gym there is like while I stay. Its time for me to be the runner I want to be. Thank you, Ryann, Scott, Trent, and Mom and Dad for encouraging me.
