Trent's Operation

Some of you may know that Trent had a double hydrocele operation on Monday. I didn't really blog about it because, truth be told, I could even talk about it without crying-hard. I hated that they had to knock him out. I hated to think of him being separated from me. In the end, we had a fantastic experience at CHOP in Voorhees. The staff was amazing and so was Trent.

We arrived at 6:30 am to the surgical center

We were told Trent should come in his PJs and to bring a pacifier for him.

While we waited, he played on the fun toys they had there. My heart was breaking because he didn't know what was coming. The hardest part was before Dr. Doolin arrived.
Pre- Op wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Trent charmed the nurses and was really quite content watching Dora while they worked. The nurse even gave him a familiar toy. I got teary a few times in that room because he was so cute and happy.

Next, the anesthesiologist came in to check him out. The CHOP pjs went on, he got giggle juice to help him forget he was being separated from us, and the nice nurses took him back. They told us we would wait about an hour for him to be done. Instead, 20 minutes!

The nurses handed him to me the minute we walked into the recovery room. Apparently, Dr. Doolin had been called back to CHOP for an emergency surgery and needed to get out quick. As our little guy recovered, Scott and I were briefed on how to take care of him.He woke up very slowly, but comfortably. On the way home he just wanted his blanky on his head.

He was back to normal the minute we returned home and hasn't stopped since. Thank you, every one for all your prayers, phone calls, and kind words.
