Food

We are reading all about sleeping.I really thought everything was going well with it until I read that he should be sleeping through the night at this point. One of the suggested things to do is create a stable routine. Although we do try, it seems the routine is always interrupted by something or someone. We have been good lately. Feeding lots and lots and still more food at 5:30 until about 6-6:15pm. Then play a little. After that, bath and bed. This week we have had more sleep than ever. Here are some pics of him eating...What a mess!

Genetics

At our house, the mornings are pretty hectic. Its totally my fault because I am disorganized. In order to keep some things a bit more sane, our routine involves Trent in our bed for the hour that I get ready and Scott is still asleep.I find genetics amazing. Not only do my two favorite men look alike, they sleep the same. I was able to sneak these pics of the two of them sacked out this morning. Please notice how similiarly they sleep. They are dark because I didn't want to wake them!

Oatmeal?

Babies apparently have difficulty sleeping through the night when they don't have enough to eat. I had done some research on this early in Trent's life. Eating can effect all aspects of a baby's day. Some kids become fussy, don't sleep, and cry a great deal. This is in addition to the obvious skinny appearance of the kids. Disclaimer: Ask your doctor...I am certainly not a professional. I could tell something was up because he was always eating. He would be finished eating and in what seemed like an hour he was fussing again to eat.

Anyway, my otherwise happy man was having difficulty getting through the night without eating a great deal. When I told my doctor he wasn't yet sleeping through the night, she told me to feed him more by giving him some oatmeal. We attempted to spoon feed him the liquidy oatmeal, but as you can see, he was spitting it all over the place. We put it in his bottle now and he took it in. Unfortunately, his digestive system had some problems with it. He didn't sleep at all. We have decided to just feed him more formula during the day. It worked and he slept all the way through last night! 8 pm- 5 am...what a wonderful night.
